Sat recieves warrant for first police search

Secretary General of the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha (SDMS)Satnarayan Maharaj has finally been provided with a copy of the warrant which gave police officersthe authority to search the Tunapuna offices and studios of Radio and TV Jaagriti on April 18th 2019.

Mr Maharaj however indicated that the police have not yet provided the warrant it used for the second search which was executed on June 12 when police sought to retrieve new information for an ongoing enquiry into a sedition investigation.

The copy of the warrant received and subsequent entry and search of the premises was based on the grounds of sedition. He is awaiting the copy of the warrant for the second entry and search.

A recent High Court ruling stated that it is reasonable to expect Police to provide a copy of a warrant to the owner of the premises to be entered and searched and the original also be presented to verify the authenticity of the copy.
