Emergency shelters in Sangre-Grande are on standby to be activated once there is a need to do so amid Wednesday’s adverse weather.
Confirmation of this came from Chairman of the Sangre-Grande Regional Corporation, Anil Juteram, in a News Power Now interview.
Mr Juteram noted that one family from Coalmine had to be rescued due to flooding in the area.
The Sangre-Grande hospital, Mr Juteram said, was also flooded along with North Eastern College and a Presbyterian Primary School.
Mr Juteram said landslides were also reported in the Matelot community.
