Sangre Grande barber killed in early morning home invasion

A 30-year-old barber was shot dead at his Sangre Grande home on Saturday morning.

Around 2:40am, Leslie Junior Roberts and his 36-year-old wife Cindy Roberts, of Melchizedek Drive, Blake Avenue Extension, were abruptly awakened by the sound of their front door being forcibly opened by two suspects.

One intruder remained outside, while the other entered the home armed with a firearm.

The armed man fired a shot toward Cindy, grazing her back before she collapsed in fear.

Leslie Roberts pleaded for his life, but the assailant shot him in the head, causing him to slump to the floor.

Authorities were alerted to the situation, and a response team from the police Task Force, led by Corporal Singh, arrived on the scene to find Roberts’ lifeless body lying on his back near the bed.
