San Juan man arrested for selling pineapples on a trolley

San Juan man arrested for disorderly behaviour.

A 45- year-old man of San Juan was arrested, yesterday by officers of the San Juan Municipal Police Station for disorderly behaviour and offering for sale marketable commodities within 1.5 km of a Public market.

PC Walker, WPCs Taylor and Cemento were on foot patrol along Coldatina Avenue, San Juan, when they saw a man on the roadway with a quantity of pineapples on a trolley, soliciting sales.

The officers informed the man, that it was an offence to offer for sale any agriculture produce with 1.5 km of the public market. He was then asked to remove his trolley and he complied, however, as the man was leaving the area, and as he approached the Southern side of the San Juan Market, he continued to offer his goods for sale, and was again informed of the regulations.

The accused began gesticulating and is alleged to have said to the officer, “wham like you cah spell, I done make jail, 12 years already, dis is small ting, anytime all yuh leave I coming back.”

PERU RAJCOOMAR, 45 of, Maraj Street, Quarry Road, San Juan was arrested for disorderly behaviour and offering for sale agriculture produce within 1.5 km of a Public Market.

Rajcoomar, was granted bail in the sum $1,000.00. He is expected to appear at the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court on Monday 3rd May 2021 to answer to the charges.
