San Fernando woman stabbed during argument with common-law husband

A woman is warded in a serious but stable condition at hospital, after she was stabbed several times during an argument with her common-law husband.

The 44-year-old woman reported to police that she and the 36-year-old man were involved in a heated exchange around 11pm last night, during which he accused her of being unfaithful.

The argument became physical and the man grabbed a black knife and stabbed the woman several times about the chest and right hand.

The injured woman was rushed by relatives to the Princes Town Health facility, before being transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital.

Police are continuing investigations.
No word yet on whether the common-law husband has been detained.
