San Fernando man remanded into custody for breach of Protection Order

A 41-year-old man is due to re-appear at the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 20th October 2022, after he was remanded into custody last week when he appeared before Magistrate Ameena Deonarine.
The accused of Lady Hailes Avenue, San Fernando was charged with Breach of Protection Order, Common Assault, and Malicious Wounding.
According to police reports, around 9.25 am Sunday 3rd July 2022, a woman was seated at the front of her home when she was approached by her ex-common law husband. The man then allegedly injured the woman on her abdomen with a knife, then allegedly placed the knife on the woman’s throat.
The matter was investigated by officers of the Gender-Based Violence Unit – Southern Division, who arrested the man. He was later charged by WPC Sylvan.
Investigations were supervised by W/ Supt. Claire- Guy Allen, ASP Seecharan, W/Insp. Hospedales and Ag. Cpl. Jagroop.
