Russia’s Health Ministry Approves New COVID-19 Drug

Russia’s Ministry of Health approved on Wednesday another drug, Koronavir against COVID-19, indicated the capital television.

In this way, Koronavir becomes the third national preparation aimed to fight against the pandemic, which has already left 10,667 deaths among 700,792 Covid-19 cases in this country.

The National Direct Investment Fund and the JimRar company have been producing Avifavir, while the Promomed company has been manufacturing Areplivir. Both demonstrated 90 percent effectiveness in treating Covid-19 patients, the local press noted.

According to sources from the Health Ministry, Koronavir was approved expeditiously due to the conditions of emergency situations, such as the current pandemic, and it can only be used in hospital conditions. In addition, the aforementioned medicine in no way can be applied in cases of pregnancy and family planning, in people with serious liver problems and among those under 18 years old, local television indicated.

Along with the aforementioned fund, R-Farm will build a factory, with an investment of four billion rubles (about 56,116,000 dollars) to produce the drug Omalizumab (monoclonal antibody), preparations against Covid-19 complications and vaccines.
