Major cities in Ukraine — including Dnipro in the east and Lutsk in the far west of the country — were attacked by Russian forces on Friday, a Ukrainian official said, with fatalities reported.

He was speaking to journalists ahead of the second day of an EU leaders’ summit in Versailles, France. If approved by the leaders, this will bring the bloc’s financial support to the Ukrainian military to over $1 billion.
