Rishi Sunak to be Britain’s next PM

Rishi Sunak has been declared the leader of Britain’s Conservative Party and in effect the next Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

Chairman of the Conservative Party committee overseeing the process to elect the party’s new leader, Sir Graham Brady, announced they only received one nomination for the new leader of the party.

This after Sunak’s lone remaining contender, House of Commons Leader Penny Mordaunt, withdrew from the race.

Sir Graham at a meeting of party officials declared Rishi Sunak to be the next party leader, and said he’d address Tory MPs shortly.
