A Rio Claro woman is expected to appear virtually before a Princes Town Magistrate today, charged with wasteful employment of the police.
SAMANTHA MOHAMMED, 29, of Rio Claro/Mayaro Branch Road, was charged with the offence following investigations into a report of an alleged kidnapping involving a woman, which occurred on October 19th 2021.
The woman alleges she boarded a taxi in Rio Claro on her way to work in Princes Town, when a passenger of the vehicle took her purse away from her and told her to lie on the seat.
She alleges the vehicle then proceeded to Moruga, before the driver and passenger got out of the car after receiving a phone call.
She says she took the opportunity to escape and made her way to the Morgua Police Station where she made a report of kidnapping.
Upon completion of their investigations into the matter, officers met with the alleged victim on Wednesday and informed her she had made a false report.
The woman then allegedly admitted to making a false report to the police.
She was charged by PC Mahabir of the Rio Claro Criminal Investigations Department on Wednesday.
