Rice Farmers Have Received Outstanding Payments from NFM, Confirms Agriculture Minister

Local rice farmers have been paid outstanding payments by National Flour Mills.

Confirmation of this comes from Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, Kazim Hosein.

Minister Hosein told the Senate, on Monday, that the Ministry is responsible for monies owed to rice farmers.

However, the Minister said the payments are made directly by the National Flour Mills.

Earlier this year, NFM met with the affected farmers and addressed issues relating to delays in payments.
