Retention ponds will be put in place as indicated by the experts in a bid to help reduce the impact of flooding across the country.
In addition to this move, Minister of Works and Transport, Rohan Sinanan, said flood gates and pumps were installed and upgraded along the entire Caroni area.
He noted that the Piarco Airport runway was not affected by the recent flooding.
Minister Sinanan said a lot of work is planned in this fiscal year.
The Minister said the holistic plan will be guided by the experts in this field and work is on-going under the national flood drainage plan.
