Residents In East Trinidad Protest Bad Roads; Works Minister Assures Restoration Is Forthcoming

Minister of Works and Transport, Rohan Sinanan, is assuring residents of five communities, who protested today, restoration road works will begin on Friday.

The villagers from Four Roads Tamana, Carmichael, Coryal, Housing Village and Borne Air Road turned out in large numbers from midnight to demonstrate over poor roads and a lack of water.

They say the roads have been in a poor state for many years and have worsened in light of the recent inclement weather.

Police arrived on the scene to restore law and order.

Equipment from both the Sangre-Grande and Tunapuna /Piarco Regional Corporations was reportedly used to clear the debris.
