The estranged husband of the murdered mom of two, Sunil Dookie, appeared before a magistrate on Monday charged with his ex-wife’s murder.
Reshma Kanchan was murdered on September 29 following a domestic dispute with the suspect.
The 36-year-old man appeared virtually before Magistrate Aden Stroude and he was not called upon to enter a plea as the charge was laid indictably.
The matter was adjourned to November 9.
Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions gave the instructions to lay the charge on Friday 9th October.
Investigations revealed that Sunil Dookie made a report to the Siparia Police Station on Monday 28th September of domestic problems with the deceased and of suicidal feelings.
Further information revealed that the deceased left her home at approximately 8.45 am on Tuesday 29th September and was seen arguing with a person in a black vehicle.
Shortly after the vehicle sped off driving west, the deceased was discovered by villagers on the ground suffering from apparent chop wounds. She also appeared lifeless.
Sunil Dookie was apprehended after the vehicle he was driving collided with a metal garbage bin along the Laltoo Branch Road, he was suffering from a wound to his neck.
