Repairs to sinkhole along Uriah Butler Highway to take place this weekend 

Part of the southbound lane of the Uriah Butler Highway in the vicinity Grand Bazaar will be closed from 9pm today for emergency works.

The Works Ministry says the closure will run until 12pm on Sunday.

Alternative routes are available from the Highway Parallel Access Road, onto Bamboo #3 Boulevard.

On Monday evening, a video began circulating on social media showing a sinkhole developing along the highway near Grand Bazaar.

The Works Ministry later carried out temporary restoration, noting that it was finalizing the scope of work to replace the culvert.

The public is being encouraged to follow the alternative routes and comply with the following directions:

  ●   Proceed with extreme caution and observe all directional signs and barriers.

  ●   Parking will not be permitted along the access road to access the Uriah Butler Highway.

  ●   Comply with instructions issued by Police Officers and Traffic Wardens, where necessary, to facilitate a safe and orderly flow of traffic.

  ●   Be aware of heavy equipment entering and exiting the work site.
