Local Government Councillor for the Electoral District of Reform/Manahambre, Chris Hosein, is calling on the government to ensure schools are in a state of readiness for the new school term, come September.
Speaking at the St. Clement Vedic School Graduation ceremony earlier today, Councillor Hosein said, “There seems to be a complete disregard for the schools and their upkeep – especially with the break-down of the EFCL. St, Clement Vedic was one of those schools that was carded to be relocated back in 2015 and that seems to have been taken off the cards.”
Councillor Hosein added, “This treatment of students is an indictment on the Government and if they cannot treat even children properly, then there is little hope for anyone else.
Councillor Hosein said the Government seems to be “spinning top in mud” and always give a run-around answer when questioned on the completion of the Reform Hindu School, noting that he has been asking for six years with no definitive answer.
The Councillor reiterated his call for the completion of the Reform Hindu School as well as remedial work to be undertaken on other schools within his district to ensure a more comfortable environment for the students.
He stated that the July/August vacation period should be ample time for the Government to carry out the necessary work and urged that action be taken.
