Former Energy Minister Kevin Ramnarine says the Government will be hard-pressed to find a good buyer for the Pointe-a-Pierre refinery at this time.
Mr Ramnarine noted that refineries around the world are not doing well and as such it may not necessarily appeal to investors right now.
He noted that despite this, there is a market opportunity for the refinery given its location but he expressed concerns about the timeliness of the move.
The former Energy Minister explained that the refinery’s owner, Trinidad Petroleum also may need to adjust its approach and do what it can to make the refinery more attractive to investors.
