Attorney at law Ramesh Lawrence-Maharaj says the Government has a duty to take steps to take corrective action in the Paria issue.
He made the comment while speaking on Power 102 Digital’s Power Breakfast Show this morning.
The former Attorney-General said that until the matter is sorted out, the Government should have considered appointing an interim board or persons to run the company.
He noted the gravity of the matter calls for the easing of public furore.
Mr Lawrence-Maharaj suggested that the presence of senior management, whose actions or lack thereof may have led to the divers’ death, is also an impediment to the investigation.
He said that they should also temporarily step aside in a bid to at least appease the public’s calls for justice in the situation.
