The deficiency in schooling in relation to youth crime is quite evident.
This is the view of Former Police Service Commission member Ramesh Deosaran who says that many crimes that are committed today are by those who just left the school system.
He told News Power Now that they come out of the school system with a sense of hopelessness because they face a myriad of problems.

He said that teachers also suffer as they are frustrated with having to deal with delinquent students.

He noted the relationship between educational failures and crime.
Deosaran suggested that failure to perform well in school or manage with the school system presents real problems for those students who simply cannot cope.
He said they often times turn to nefarious activities after finding themselves aligned to gangs when they leave the school system.
