Quick action by cops lead to arrest of robbery suspect in Chaguanas

The quick response of officers of the highway patrol unit, following a report of Robbery with Violence in Chaguanas on Saturday led to the arrest of a 20-year-old Chaguanas man.

According to a police report, around 2:40 pm, two cashiers were conducting sales at a mini-mart located on La Clave Street, Edinburgh 500, Chaguanas when they were accosted by two men.

One of the men was allegedly armed with a firearm. They announced a robbery and allegedly relieved the cashiers of a quantity of cigarettes, alcohol, and cash representing the day’s sales.

There were also two men purchasing items from the establishment when the incident occurred. The first was allegedly dealt several blows to his head with the suspect’s firearm and the second was relieved of a cell phone. The suspects then escaped in a southern direction along La Clave Street, Chaguanas.

Highway Patrol units responded and arrested one of the suspects a short distance away. He is currently assisting police as investigations continue.
