Public Utilities Minister Rubbishes Claims Of Deal With Canadian Firm In WASA Transformation Plan

Government is not part of any deal with a Canadian company to help with the restructuring of the Water and Sewage Authority.

Minister of Public Utilities, Marvin Gonzales, made this known during a news briefing on Monday.

Minister Gonzales was at the time responding to an allegation from Opposition Member of Parliament, Dr   Roodal Moonilal.

The Minister made it clear the government has been open and transparent on the situation at WASA and the need to transform the utility insisting government has sought no input from any Canadian firm.

Addtionally, Minister Gonzales said progress has been made in addressing leaks in the water system and there are efforts in place to tackle the back log.
