Public to be educated on Covid vaccine by mid January

It is expected that by March 2021, a Covid19 vaccine would be in TT.
And, as such, the Ministry of Health intends to get the ball rolling on educating the public about the vaccine as soon as the Christmas season is over.

Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh, speaking on Saturday, said the programme would get underway in mid- to late January. But that time could be adjusted, as it depends on the arrival of the vaccine in TT.

He said “We are going to be doing a very serious and robust public education programme, especially on social media because social media is where the anti-vaxxers thrive, not in mainstream media.”

As of now, Deyalsingh said his ministry is still working on the message, messenger, and medium for the vaccine education campaign.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Roshan Parasram said the best thing would be to vaccinate as many people as possible based on the phases laid out by WHO.
