Public accustomed to death by murder and COVID says UNC MP

The opposition United National Congress (UNC) is calling for the resignation of National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds.

At the UNC’s weekly press conference held at the Opposition Leader’s Charles Street, Port of Spain, office on Sunday, MP Rodney Charles addressed crime in what he says is a country out of control with murders and the covid19 pandemic.

Charles described November as the “bloodiest month ever” even though TT was then under a State of Emergency.

He added that TT had 77 murders and 462 covid deaths in November alone.

He claimed that death was being normalized with the public now becoming accustomed to death from COVID and murders.

Charles claimed that at the current rate, with 77 murders in November, TT could easily approach 1 thousand murders in 2022 and beyond.
