All will be done to ensure the permanent appointment of a Police Commissioner and Deputy Police Commissioner, and the process carried out in a transparent way.
The assurance came from Chair of the Police Service Commission, Justice Judith Jones while giving opening remarks at the 14th meeting of the Joint Select Committee on National Security, Wednesday afternoon.
The JSC is inquiring into the operations of the Police Service Commission with a focus on strategies to improve the management and performance of the TTPS.
At present the Commission is preparing to embark on the quest to fill the substantive posts.
Justice Jones said while the Commission acknowledges the work being done by the present acting incumbents, it is of the firm view that acting appointments are not ideal and encourage the lack of public trust and confidence in the TTPS.
Justice Jones said the appointment of persons to these permanent positions is a priority for the Commission.
However, the Commission is aware of the importance of the task at hand which makes it imperative that it does its best to ensure the process is transparent and systems are put in place to ensure the best available persons are chosen for the job.
