Project Phoenix to provide Belmont residents with free counselling services and life skills training

Belmont residents can now access free counselling services and life skills training. The services will be provided through Project Phoenix which was officially launched on Wednesday at the Belmont Community Centre.

Project Phoenix Belmont seeks to provide much-needed support in a community that has recently experienced a proliferation of social issues including those related to mental ill health. It is hoped that this initiative will create greater awareness and eliminate any associated stigmas allowing affected individuals to get the help they need.

The project is the brainchild of Councillor for Belmont East, Ms. Nicole M. Young, who enlisted the help of Head of Social Support Services at the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, Mrs. Aisha Corbie, and her team at the Victim and Witness Support Unit to provide some of the services required.

The initiative was fully endorsed by the Member of Parliament for Port of Spain North/St. Ann’s West, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, The Honourable Stuart Young, His Worship Alderman Joel Martinez, and Commissioner of Police Erla Harewood-Christopher, who were all present at the launch and pledged their commitment and continued support.
