A call is being made for consideration to be given to increasing the entry requirements for the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
The appeal is coming from criminologist, Professor Ramesh Deosaran.
Professor Deosaran made the suggestion while being interviewed on the Power Breakfast Show on Power 102 Digital Wednesday morning.
Prof. Deosaran reviewed the current entry requirements for the TTPS, recommending there is need to raise the standard making it a more professional acceptance for entry.
Professor Deosaran said this matter was deliberated upon in a meeting of the Man Power Audit Committee, adding that five passes to get into the TTPS is not enough.
Mr Deosaran proposed there is need for officers with not only paper certificates but with attitude to serve and comply with the rules and be accountable.
