Prison Officers are staying away from work due to fears for their life.
This is the revelation being made today by President of the Prison Officers Association, Ceron Richards.
Speaking this morning on Power 102 Digital’s Power Breakfast Show, he lamented the death rate of prison officers in the country as he noted the dangers of the job.
He claimed officers are not turning up for work until action is taken.
Mr Richards questioned why the Government is yet to take legislative action to allow officers to be afforded the ability to protect themselves.
The Senior Prisons Officer accused the National Security Minister, Fitzgerald Hinds of being uncaring.
