Prime Minister Rowley Defends The EBC’s Decision To Create Three Extra Electoral Seats In Tobago.

Prime Minister, Dr Keith Rowley, is defending the decision of the Election and Boundaries Commission to create three extra seats in Tobago.

Dr Rowley made the point in the House of Representatives Wednesday afternoon on the Motion: Consider the Draft EBC Local Government and Tobago House of Assembly Tobago Order, 2021.

Dr Rowley responded to critics of the EBC’s move, who are claiming the decision will give the People’s National Movement an advantage.

Dr Rowley insisted he never gave the  EBC instructions to create the three extra seats.

The Prime Minister outlined the detailed approach taken by the government on this issue and how the fifteen electoral seats for Tobago were arrived at.

Dr Rowley said holding fresh elections in Tobago is a step in the right direction adding it will allow people to have their say by voting again to determine who should manage the affairs of the sister isle.
