PriceSmart Sustainable Solutions Plant opens in Point Lisas Business Park

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley cut the ribbon to officially open the PriceSmart Sustainable Solutions Plant located at the Point Lisas Business Park in Point Lisas Couva on Tuesday.
The investment project of approximately US $3.6 million, produces packaging material for the domestic (Trinidad and Tobago) market.
The raw material being used is 100 percent bio-resin which includes dextrose and corn waste.
This material produces plastic cups, plates, meat trays and packaging that are recycled, recyclable and compostable.
The Sustainable Solutions Plant is currently capable of producing five million units per month, and PriceSmart plans to expand its capacity to an average of 20 million units per month.
The plant is expected to commence exports in February 2023 as production ramps up.
Also present at the opening were the Minister of Trade and Industry, Paula Gopee-Scoon and the Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, Kazim Hosein.
