Presidential nominee Israel Khan denies being a UNC activist

Israel Khan SC, the United National Congress’ nominee for TT president, has categorically denied a claim made by the Prime Minister that he is a UNC activist.

Dr Keith Rowley made the claim during a media conference on Monday, as he explained his decisions for nominating Senate President Christine Kangaloo for the position.

However, Khan, during an interview he did with Guardian Media, denied that he is an activist for the UNC.
“That is a blatant untruth. Also, I’m not a member of the UNC, I’ve never canvassed for the UNC. It is a fact that I support Kamla as the de facto leader of the UNC but I’m not a member of the UNC,” he added.

Khan even maintained his independence, saying he has spoken out against leaders, past and present, for their alleged transgressions.
