President Paula Mae Weekes breaks silence on the Police Service Commission

Trinidad and Tobago President Paula Mae Weekes has finally broken her silence on matters relating to the Police Service Commission and the appointments of members of the PSC.
Her Excellency commented on the series of events in the newspapers yesterday, noting that her office is tasked with making decisions in the national interest.
Former Police Commissioner Gary Griffith has described the President’s actions and that of the Police Service Commission as unacceptable.
In her statement the President acknowledged the judgement of the courts that the appointment of Gary Griffith as Acting Police Commissioner was unconstitutional and void.
The statement explained that Her Excellency had awaited a judgement before speaking out on the matter.
However the President maintained that she would not address who came to her office or who she met with.
