Presbyterian Churches in Couva-Balmain district shut doors due to COVID concerns

Reverend Damien Sieunarine, head of the pastoral region of Couva-Balmain has revealed that the Presbyterian Church has decided to close all its houses of worship within that region, following a COVID19 scare.

Sieunarine told GML that on Wednesday, April 14, the elders of the church decided to close the church for two weeks, out of an abundance of caution, after he received information from a female parishioner that she had tested positive for COVID-19.

The victim in question may have also come into contact with worshippers from other churches.

The churches closed are the Knox Presbyterian Church, the Arunodai Presbyterian Church at Main Road, Balmain, the Mc Bean Presbyterian Church at Calcutta #1 and the Indian Trail Presbyterian Church.

Service would be held online using the Zoom platform.

This is the first case involving the Presbyterian church.
