Pregnant non-national warded at POSGH with malaria

A pregnant woman, who is said to be a non-national, is currently warded in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Port of Spain General Hospital with malaria.

The patient was confirmed as carrying the illness which is spread through mosquito bites, by the head of the North West Regional Health Authority (NWRHA) Anthony Blake.

Blake, in a GML report, stated that protocol mandates that for all infectious diseases, the patient is isolated.

For the most part, malaria has been eliminated in Trinidad and Tobago, however, some cases have been recorded over the years.
