Two off-duty officers were in the right place at the right time this morning as they caught one of four bandits who robbed a supermarket only moments before.
Reports indicate that the officers were walking along the Cantaro Extension Road in Santa Cruz when they saw the four bandits hastily escaping the supermarket. When the police called out to the men, they opened fire on the officers. The officers shot the bandits and wounded two of them: one was shot in the stomach and remained at the scene but the other, who was also shot and injured, escaped along with the two other suspects.
The suspect in custody is said to be a 23-year-old singer from Santa Cruz. He was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital to be treated for his injuries. He is said to be in a serious condition.
