Pooran’s sleight of hand costs him four matches

West Indies cricketer Nicholas Pooran has been caught red-handed tampering with the red cricket ball used during matches. As a result, he has been banned from playing in four T20 international matches.

The Trinidadian left-hander was found guilty of ball tampering after he was caught on camera scratching the ball with his thumb during the third ODI match against Afghanistan, played in India yesterday. The 24-year-old cricketer will have to sit out the T20 series against Afghanistan, and one match in the series against India.

His offence is a level 3 breach of the International Cricket Council (ICC) code of conduct.
