A woman drowned while bathing in the waters off the Chaguaramas Boardwalk and the police are now seeking the public’s assistance in identifying her.
Police were told by eyewitnesses that the woman was at the Boardwalk around 12:15pm on Sunday in the company of a man.
They observed the man trying to hug the woman, following which she pushed him away and got into the water alone.
Shortly thereafter, the woman encountered difficulties and went under the water.
Her body resurfaced a short while later floating face down.
Bystanders dived in after her and brought her to shore, where CPR was performed.
She was taken to the St James District Hospital, but she died while undergoing treatment.
The deceased was described as an East Indian woman between the ages of 50 and 55, with blonde hair, a tiger-striped fitted top, black three-quarter tights, and brown skin.
Anyone with information about the woman’s identity is urged to contact the nearest police station. Information can also be provided anonymously through 555 or 800-TIPS or via the TTPS App.
