Police shoots man after cutlass attack

Police officers attached to the Cyber and Social Media unit shot a man in his right foot after he attacked another man with a cutlass on Sunday at around 9 pm.

An ADD News TT report states that the officers were refueling a police car at the Richmond Street NP gas station when they saw a man attacking another man with a cutlass.

The man ran away on Kew Place Street after he saw the officers approaching.

Police chased the man who then tried to attack them with the cutlass.

One of the officers called on the man to stop and shot him.

When the man continued to approach the police the other officer tackled him.

An ambulance was then called in and took the man to the hospital.

Investigators said is under police guard at the Port of Spain General Hospital.

Investigations are continuing.
