Officers of the San Fernando Criminal Investigations Department (CID) recovered a stolen vehicle along Cypress Ridge, Union Hall, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
At around 12.30 am officers were on patrol when they observed a silver Nissan B14 without headlights heading towards the intersection.
When the driver saw the officers, he accelerated, forcing the officers to give chase and the Nissan B14 ran off the roadway and crashed into a lamp post.
The driver escaped into Cypress Ridge with officers in pursuit.
A 20-year-old unemployed man was later arrested.
Officers of the San Fernando CID then recovered the stolen vehicle.
Enquiries are continuing.
