Police recover 7 stolen vehicles, suspect held

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is urging vehicle owners to take all necessary precautions to make their vehicles hard targets for criminals.

This after diligent work by officers has led to the recovery of seven motor vehicles which were reported stolen across several Divisions and the arrest of one suspect, in ongoing anti-crime exercises.

They said such precautions include investing in anti-theft devices for vehicles such as GPS systems, alarms and kill switches.

Between the period December 29th, 2022 and Tuesday 10th, 2023, officers made the following successful recoveries:
1. A white Kia Rio which was reported stolen in the Marabella district in March 2020, was recovered in the Sea Lots area, by officers of the Port of Spain Division Task Force, on Tuesday 10th, 2023. A 36-year-old fisherman was arrested in connection with the incident.

2. A white Toyota Aqua which was taken away at gunpoint at One Woodbrook Place, around 10:25pm, on Tuesday 10th January, 2023, was recovered less than an hour later in the San Juan district by officers of the San Juan Crime Patrol Unit.

3. A silver Toyota Aqua, which was reported stolen from the Chaguanas district sometime between January 5th, 2023 and January, 6th, 2023, was recovered abandoned in the Morvant district, on January 9th, 2023.

4. A white Nissan AD Wagon, which was stolen sometime between January 9th, 2023 and January 10th, 2023, in the Guayamare district, was recovered abandoned by officers of the Central Division Task Force (CDTF), Area South, in the Couva district a short time later.

5. A white Nissan AD Wagon, which was reported stolen from the Barataria district in October 2022, was recovered abandoned on the shoulder of the southbound lane of the Uriah Butler Highway bearing false registration plates, on January 10th, 2023, by officers of the CDTF-Area North.

6. A white Kia-2700 Pickup motor vehicle which was reportedly stolen at gunpoint from a victim in the Port of Spain District, on Tuesday 10th January, 2023 was recovered in the Sea Lots area around 12:15 am, on Wednesday 11th January, 2023.

7. A white Toyota Aqua, which was reported stolen in the San Fernando district on December 23rd, 2022, was recovered by officers of the Stolen Vehicles Squad, in the Beetham Gardens district, on December 29th, 2022.
