A shooting in downtown Port-of-Spain on Friday claimed the life of Ronald “Casper” Downes, a man known to police as a firearm and drug offender.
Around 10:15am, police attempted to arrest Downes but he reportedly fired at them. The officers returned gunfire hitting him several times.
Downes was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital but died while being treated for his injuries.
