Police hold nine and seize two firearms in anti-crime exercises

Nine suspects were arrested and two firearms and a quantity of ammunition recovered, during early morning anti-crime exercises conducted across the country on Wednesday.

In the Port of Spain Division, officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force, conducted an exercise around 12:55 am on Wednesday 6th August, 2023 during which they intercepted one Nissan Wingroad with five male occupants.

A search of the vehicle resulted in one Taurus pistol loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition being found and seized.

The men, from the Port of Spain and Western Divisions, were arrested in connection with the find.
Still in the Port of Spain Division, officers conducted an exercise around 3:30 am today, during which they recovered a Toyota Corolla motor vehicle which was reported taken from its owner at gunpoint in the Central Division.

And, in the Central Division, officers of the Emergency Response Patrol Unit along with personnel of a Joint Police Army Patrol, were able to intercept a Nissan AD Wagon, with four Venezuelan nationals, around 10:10 pm, on Tuesday 5th September, 2023.

A search of the vehicle resulted in a firearm, a quantity of cocaine and several tie straps were found and seized.

The four suspects were arrested in connection with the finds.
Investigations are ongoing into the above matters.
