Police detain 3 men for gun, larceny, robbery with violence

Three men were arrested in separate incidents yesterday and are assisting Southern Division Officers with their investigations.

On Saturday morning based on intelligence gathered by the Southern Operations and Intelligence Unit, Snr Supt Lucia Winchester gave the directive for a pre-emptive strike against perpetrators suspected for crimes of firearm and robbery offences in Southern Division.

During the hours of 4 am and 9 am, a team of officers armed with search warrants conducted searches to several homes.

During the search, the police officers found a homemade firearm at the home of a 35-year-old man, of Golconda Settlement, Golconda. The man was immediately arrested and PC Mohess is continuing investigations.

A 25-year-old man of Carib Street, San Fernando was arrested on several warrants which involved larceny from persons. PC Ramdath is continuing enquiries.

A third man was arrested for robbery with violence. The 24-year-old man of Robertson Street, San Fernando, is assisting WPC Battersby with her investigation.
Charges are expected to be laid in these matters.
