PNM Women’s League mourns the loss of Andrea Bharatt

The Women’s League of the People’s National Movement mourns the loss of the Andrea Bharatt, 23, from Arima, whose decomposed body was found in Aripo.

The Women’s League said “the young 23-year-old woman with her whole life ahead of her was snatched from us in a most heinous way.”

“We wish to extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of Andrea and we hold them in our prayers.”

Like the rest of the country the Women’s League said it been praying and hoping for the safe return of Andrea.

“It was a mere two months ago that the life of another young woman was heinously taken from us. We must do better as a nation and a community to ensure our women are safe and protected. We must remain vigilant against the ills of our society and those who wish to harm and do evil to our women.”

“We call for swift justice on behalf of Andrea and her family. These acts must not go unpunished and we have every confidence that those involved will be caught and be brought before the courts to answer for their actions.”

The Women’s League said it will continue to urge the citizenry to remain vigilant , to speak up when you see wrongdoing and to assist the police.
