Prime minister Dr Keith Rowley stressed that his government is carrying out a voluntary vaccination program at this time. He cautioned that if the situation changes and a dangerous variant challenges the country, the Cabinet will have to consider another approach which may involve the consideration of a mandatory approach. Dr Rowley said that he welcomed the conversation about the issue recently with former UNC Minister Dr. Bhoe Tiwarie on his television morning show.
The PM also stated that globally 3.6 billion doses have been administered and those person have been found to be better protected against contracting the virus and becoming a fatality as a result.
Dr. Rowley also said that conspiracy theorist and other are spreading misinformation about Covid 19 and this has been described in the US as a public health issue.
The PM advised that the population should heed the advice of the country’s health care professionals who are paid to take care of and advise us properly.
