The Office of the Prime Minister issued a press release this morning refuting claims that Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley met with Tobago Council of the PNM/Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Kelvin Charles.
The release said, “A story carried on television on Monday night and published in today’s Guardian, written by Camille McEachnie with the headline “PM meets with Charles as Tobago impasse continues” erroneously states that:
“Prime Minister and political leader of the People’s National Movement (PNM) Dr Keith Rowley met with former leader of the Tobago Council of the PNM/Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly Kelvin Charles yesterday”.”
It was further reported that, “prior to yesterday’s meeting Charles was offered an ambassadorship” and that he declined the offer.
The Prime Minister confirms that these stories are total fabrications since no such meeting ever took place nor was there any conversation of that nature and no offer was made to Mr. Charles.
