Allegations raised in the Parliament by Oropouche East MP Dr Roodal Moonilal against the Oilfields Workers Trade Union financiers to take over the refinery may topple the entire deal.
That is an area of concern for Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley as he said the questions raised by Mr Moonilal about who would benefit from the sale of the refinery, and assertions that the Prime Minister was involved in some underhanded bid to sell off the refinery for private profit, could potentially hinder the OWTU’s chance of securing a loan.
Speaking at the Peoples National Movement post-Budget public meeting at Pigott’s Corner, Belmont last night, Dr Rowley likened Mr Moonilal’s statements to what he described as the negative reports that jeopardised the Tobago Sandals project.
