PM commissions Tucker Valley Shade House Project

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley officially commissioned the Tucker Valley Shade House Project at the Chaguaramas Development Authority (CDA) Agricultural Park, Tucker Valley Chaguaramas yesterday (Thursday 15th August, 2024).

The Tucker Valley Shade House Project, developed in collaboration with the Co-operative Republic of Guyana’s National Agricultural Research and Extension Institute, the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, and the Land Settlement Agency, is an innovative initiative designed to empower the nation’s youth.

At least 100 participants between the ages of 16 and 35 will have the opportunity to partake in practical training in producing high-value, short-term crops, tailored for the hospitality, health care, and fast-food sectors. Upon completion, participants will receive a Shade House Production certificate from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine.

Minister of Youth Development and National Service, Foster Cummings was also present at the launch.

Additionally, several Government Ministers, Members of Parliament, and representatives from the various Local Government bodies joined Prime Minister Rowley at the event.
