Piparo residents in fear of possible mud volcano eruption

Residents are on standby for possible evacuation at Pancho Trace in Piparo, in fear of the mud volcano erupting.

According to the Piparo Village Council’s Facebook page, a loud explosion was heard by residents at 10:08pm, at Pancho Trace; when cracks began appearing across the roads and in and around several homes.

At 10:20pm, persons were placed on high alert for evacuation from the area in the event the mud volcano did erupt.

According to Member of Parliament for Princes Town, Barry Padarath, a landslip occurred and there is a high sulphur scent within the area.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information comes to hand.
