The Ministry of Education will soon be unleashing the second phase of its plan for the physical return to schools.
The first phase saw the return of fully vaccinated students in Forms Four to Six at the start of the week.
Now, the Education Minister, Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly has revealed that vaccinated students in the lower level of the secondary school system could return to in-person classes approximately two weeks from now.
During debate on the budget in the House of Representatives on Friday, Gadsby-Dolly said “Once all goes well, Forms One to Three vaccinated secondary school children will join their Forms Four to Six peers in physical classes within the next two weeks once all goes well.”
Gadsby-Dolly defended her ministry against calls to leave the students at home, saying that while online classes have been a “saving grace”, face-to face classes are vital.
She admitted that there has been some strain on teachers to deliver content via two different systems but she hoped the return to physical classes for the lower secondary will ease that burden in some measure.
