The system of PH taxis which provide transportation services in many areas in Trinidad and Tobago is now under the spotlight after the discovery of a body in a river in Santa Cruz believed to be that of missing teenager Ashanti Riley.
Prime minister Dr. Keith Rowley spoke about the issue related to persons driving PH taxis whose character should prevent them from transporting anyone in the absence of the State having a sense of their character or registering them in some manner.
Dr Rowley said that every time one of our girls and women are victimized in this manner, as a father and uncle he feels the pain of the families. The Prime minister underscored the importance of personal safety and vigilance in a time when criminals are preying on our girls and women.
Persons in the Sunshine Avenue community told IzzSo media that there had been reports of multiple women being assaulted by a driver in the area who was never caught.
